About Land Art Design

Land Art Design started in 1989 with Deb Brown, a mower, and a short list of lawns around Bethel. What grew out of that was not a bigger lawn crew but a different kind of company: one that could sit down with a homeowner, draw the property as it could be, build it, and then take care of it for the next twenty years. More than three decades later, that is still the shape of the business, and it is still family-run: Deb's son Cameron runs the crews now, so the second generation is already out on the properties.

Working the same corner of Connecticut for that long teaches you things a plan set cannot. We know what the ledge does to a planting bed in Redding, how salt air treats a border in Southport, and which shrubs the deer in Weston will leave alone. That accumulated local knowledge is the reason our design and build work tends to hold up — the plants are right for the site before anything goes in the ground.

We work at every scale. A courtyard garden and a full estate property get the same process: a real conversation about how you want to live outside, a careful look at the site, a design, and a crew that shows up and finishes. Because we also handle year-round maintenance, we design landscapes we know can be cared for well after the install is done.

We build outdoor spaces that are beautiful, genuinely usable, and sustainable. Three commitments guide the work:

• Customer satisfaction. Every project, large or small, gets detailed attention and personalized care from consultation through completion.
• Beauty and function. A landscape should be an extension of the house — somewhere you actually spend time, not just something you look at.
